I often get asked about my equipment with what camera brand i use, which is Canon. I personally prefer Canon because i like their range of lenses and the availability of them. However that’s not to say that other brands are bad especially these days so many brands have amazing gear. It wont matter really which brand you end up buying because at some point it is up to the photographer and there skills to kick in. Expensive equipment can only do so much, skills and talent play a role. Don’t worry about how much your starting out with because we all have to start somewhere.
The most frequent questions that i get asked are:
- Brand: Cannon
- What do you take in your camera bag? i pretty much take everything i have in regards to lenses and 2 camera bodies. It is important to take variety and back ups. Equipment can and usually does fail with the worst possible timing. In my camera case also takes lenses that i may not use but just in case i have them with me. Its better to have them with you and not use them instead of missing out on an opportunity because you didn’t have a lens with you.Start slowly and build your bag per your needs as you go. It’s far better to start with the basics and as you improve and gain momentum add to it along the way

- What lens do i use the most? i have three that i are my starting point and my essentials they are Canon 70-200mm f2.8, Canon 24-105mm f.4 and 100mm f2.8 Macro.
- Do i update the camera body? Not usually, i concentrate on the lenses and updating or getting better lenses. Camera bodies don’t need to be updated all the time, i would rather put my money into extra lenses that do different things. Then i have a wider variety of things i am able to shoot.
- Do i have insurance? Simple answer Yes. I have insurance on the contents of my bag as it literally costs more than my car. If I was to lose the bag in accident or my equipment gets damaged it is too much to replace all at once. It takes so long to build the perfect camera bag per your needs that it would be impossible to replace all of it once.
